Barbara recognized that apart from having gorgeous braids and hairstyles, it is also important for women to clean and maintain their hair and scalp. Barbara created a multicultural, natural hair care brand to spread the importance of self-care. She also wanted to offer women products they can use to feel beautiful and be at their absolute best. She wants her brand to send a message of self-care, quality, and affordability to all. Barbara believes that feeling beautiful inside and out is a community effort, and she is doing her part to help other women.

Barbara’s Story

Barbara grew up in Atlanta, Georgia before relocating to Chicago, Illinois for most of her adult life. She belonged to a large family whose members were mostly girls, and she learned how to braid and style her sisters’ hair early. She decided to develop her skills further because she enjoyed styling her sisters’ hair and they were saving on trips to the salon.

Becoming a Professional Hair Braider and Stylist

Barbara’s passion for hair braiding and styling gradually grew as she became the hairstylist in the family. After graduating from high school, she attended beauty school to be a licensed cosmetologist. She then went on to become a professional hair braider and stylist for more than eight years.

Expanding Her Horizons

Barbara was also curious about the world, and this inspired her to further her education and pursue a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. She eventually relocated to Washington D.C. Metropolitan area to work as a senior consultant in a large consulting firm for more than four years.

With her extensive experience serving thousands of women, she realized how hair hygiene could affect confidence.
